Skoda is being tight lipped about the next Rapid iteration that is set to come in the form of an engine transmission combo. Earlier reports however confirm the fact that this time, this engine gearbox combination will make it to the Rapid. The customer base for this is very large, VW group doesn’t exactly does well in sales when compared to the competition, so this is one of the best way to make sure your already impressive cars delivers on every single aspect. The car caught here testing is the Skoda Rapid facelift with no badges whatsoever, a typical Skoda trait. It is clear that the car will get the newly reported 1.2 TSi motor. Everything largely remains the same as before. The front-end grille, the new tail-lamps, the new alloy wheels and the sheet metal is similar. What has changed is the headlamps, the distinguished bonnet than before and that’s about it. Skoda doesn’t have the habit of putting badges or showing the exhaust either.

We expect the upper two variants to come in the Skoda Rapid. Al though we won’t be surprised to see a base variant as Skoda is always the more affordable brand than its parent one.

Expect a launch around March-April 2017. Prices will start Rs. 10.0 Lakhs if it is the mid variant and expect it stretch to Rs. 11.0 Lakhs for the top-end variant. Base variant could start at Rs. 9.5 Lakhs
2017 Skoda Rapid TSi Engine And Specification
The 1.2 TSi motor doesn’t need much introduction. A supercharger and turbocharger produce around 102 PS of power and segment leading 175 Nm of torque. With good low-end and mid-range torque that it offers along with segment leading top-speed, expect the Rapid to be extremely fun to drive given the chassis setup is already brilliant. Mileage should be around 16-17 km/l.
