Mahindra KUV 100 CNG Variant Spied testing, Could Help Boost Sales as fuel prices are rising constantly
The KUV 100 hasn’t been able to turn the segment on fire like how its maker would have wanted. Interestingly, the initial response to the car was pretty good though, with over 21,000 bookings in just a month’s time after its launch. However, the car is still fresh and it is still an attractive proposition for someone who wants a small hatchback and yet loves the ruggedness of an SUV. Now, it seems Mahindra isn’t letting the little cars flame extinguish and is preparing a CNG variant of the same. A test mule of KUV 100 CNG variant was pied testing recently.
As per reports, the CNG kit on the KUV100 will arrive with the 1.2-liter G80 mFalcon petrol unit that is already on offer on the car. This engine in its petro only tune makes a pretty decent 83Ps and 115Nm of torque. The transmission on offer for the same is a 5-Speed manual with a FWD mechanism. Expect the launch of this CNG KUV100 variant by July 2017 and will be targeted towards the NCR market majorly.
Expect this new variant to add to the KUV100’s staggering collection of 24 variants for petrol and diesel offered engines combined. The 1.2-liter turbocharged mFalcon D75 diesel engine makes 78Ps and 190Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
On the price front the petrol variants are priced in the range of Rs. 4.58 lakhs – Rs. 6.20 Lakhs while the diesel variants are between Rs 5.50 and 7.11 lakh. Expect the addition of the CNG kit to increase the price of the car by around Rs 50,000 when compared to the same-spec, petrol only variant.
