2019 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 Spied Testing [Video]
2019 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 diesel engine to meet new upcoming norms
Mahindra launched XUV3OO in the Indian market earlier this year. The compact SUV is getting a good response from the market and available in both petrol and diesel engines. Petrol engine displaces 1.2-liter and puts out 110bhp and 200 Nm while the diesel motor with a capacity of 1.5-liter pushes out 115bhp along with 300Nm. Both petrol and diesel engine are coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission.
One of the critical chinks in the armor of XUV3OO is the absence of an automatic transmission. Mahindra is fully aware of this lacking and working hard to bring XUV3OO’s automatic variant into the market. Recently, a production-ready avatar of XUV3OO automatic had been spied testing which fuels the speculation that the automatic variant is expected to get market launch very soon. Mahindra will first launch XUV3OO AMT and then move on to bring in more conventional form of automatic gearbox to market in the year 2020. But first, the BS6 variant will come.
To derive gains from economies of scale, Mahindra will be using the same kind of AMT setup that is currently available in its other cars. Given the fact that other offerings in the compact SUV segment like Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon come with AMT fitted gearboxes, it does make sense for Mahindra to add AMT variant to XUV3OO’s model list.
Ford EcoSport, another contender in sub-4m SUV category, is available with the automatic torque converter option but only in petrol variant while Honda hasn’t provided an automatic option on WR-V. Hyundai, which has just entered compact SUV segment with Venue, has upped the ante by providing a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox option to buyers. XUV3OO AMT option will widen the choice for customers. 2019 Mahindra XUV 300 BS6 will be expensive but Mahindra will continue to offer this fuel to its customers.
