While the MG ZS EV has been a recent launch from the automaker, the compact SUV has been on sale for a while in its home market – UK – and has just received a mild facelift for the 2021 model year. The 2021 MG ZS facelift has been introduced in the Uk with a refreshed exterior and interior styling, as well as new features, marking the European debut of the model. Interestingly, the 2021 ZS facelift in the petrol version was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in February, before its launch in the UK now.

With respect to exterior revisions, the 2021 MG ZS petrol gets a new hexagonal-shaped grille that looks bolder with the gloss-black finish. The headlight design has been reworked and get a new signature style for the LED daytime running lights, while the front bumper style has tweaked for a sharper look and gets new LED fog lamps with new black accents. The profile remains largely the same save for the new set of alloy wheels, while the rear sports refreshed taillights with the new signature lighting element thrown in for a distinctive look. There’s a more butch-looking bumper at the rear with new faux dual exhaust tips.

Inside, the cabin has received a more plush treatment on the 2021 MG ZS facelift. Upgrades include new flat-bottom steering wheel, a larger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity; a digital instrument console and new carbon-fibre inserts on the dashboard.

The UK-spec MG ZS facelift continues to use the same powertrain underneath with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine developing 107PS and 150Nm of peak torque. Internationally, the ZS petrol also comes with the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 110PS and 160 Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre motor sold in the UK is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The company has not announced the automatic version just yet.

Prices for the 2021 MG ZS facelift in the UK start at 15,495 Pounds (Rs. 14.45 lakh) for the excite trim and 17,795 Pounds (Rs. 16.60 lakh) for the Exclusive trim. The pre-facelift ZS is also listed on the company’s website that gets the turbo petrol motor and is offered with the automatic transmission.

MG Motor India only retails the ZS EV in the country for now but there have been reports that the petrol version has been under consideration for the domestic market. The company did showcase the facelift model in India first, confirming that it is serious about bringing the model to India. The MG ZS facelift will be the version to arrive, if and when it does arrive in the country as a rival to the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and other compact SUVs. Locally producing the model will also help price the model more competitively to take on its rivals. Expect the MG ZS petrol facelift to arrive in India by late 2021 or in 2022.
