It’s been almost a year since Lexus launched the RX500h in India. The SUV is priced at Rs 1.18 crore (ex-showroom) and deliveries have now begun. The fifth generation Lexus RX is based on the TNGA-K platform. The automaker offers two variants of the SUV in India, RX350h Luxury and RX500h F-Sport+. The RX has a typical Lexus traditional spindle-shaped grille with prominent LED headlights and V-shaped LED daytime running lights. The SUV has a coupe-like roofline that extends into the steeply sloping rear wind shield, making it stand out in the crowd.
The car stands out with stylish LED tail lights with a light bar in the centre. Inside, the RX is equipped with a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof. RX500h contains 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine combined with an electric motor, producing 366 horsepower and 460 Nm, combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive system. Lexus claims the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmhr in 6.2 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 210 kmhr.
The RX goes against the likes of the Range Rover Velar, BMW X6, Mercedes GLE Coupe and Audi Q8. Lexus’s first turbo petrol for India has gone through some tough challenges to finally get this engine to India. This is infact, a first for Toyota India as a group to get a turbo petrol engine in India!
