The Kawasaki Z650 has made a name for itself as a comfortable middleweight streetfighter, and now the brand is set to unveil the 2026 Z650 S. This new model enhances rider comfort through improved ergonomics and updated electronics. The ‘S’ signifies a fresh chapter in the Z series, aiming for a stylish and sophisticated design that appeals to a younger audience while keeping its sharp performance intact. For the Indian market, Kawasaki is considering the Z650 S as a refreshed successor to the current Z650, which has seen limited updates over the years.

This latest iteration boasts a more muscular and dynamic appearance, featuring subtle refinements across its bodywork. The rider triangle has been adjusted, making the bike more accessible and balanced for a broader range of rider heights. The repositioned footpegs allow for a relaxed knee angle, and the new handlebar contributes to a more upright riding posture. Meanwhile, the redesigned saddle offers added comfort, showcasing a wider and thicker front seat along with a recontoured pillion section that is 20mm broader and 10mm deeper in padding. To enhance personalization, Kawasaki will provide two optional seats: a Style seat for additional comfort and an Ergo-Fit seat that lowers the height by 20mm, ideal for shorter riders. This is problem we had complained about in the past since quite some time too!

In terms of the engine, the addictive 649 cm3 compact parallel twin delivers a powerful-feeling throttle response and a quick-revving character with KTRC traction control as standard. To optimise performance for everyday riding, care has been taken to maximise low-mid range torque. Equipped with Assist and Slipper Clutch, a patented radiator fan cover directs hot air down and away from the rider, significantly increasing congested city comfort. Additionally an O2 sensor is added to the exhaust system to assist with reducing emissions while a quick shifter is available as an accessory aiding upshifts.

The new 4.3-inch TFT color display offers better readability and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to sync their smartphones for notifications and ride statistics via the Kawasaki Rideology app. For those seeking a sportier experience, a bi-directional quickshifter will be available as an optional accessory.

Kawasaki plans to launch the Z650 S in three appealing color schemes: Ebony/Metallic Carbon Grey, Candy Lime Green/Metallic Carbon Grey, and Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Grey/Metallic Flat Spark Black. Now, the question remains—what exciting colors will Kawasaki choose to bring to our shores?
