Amidst emerging opportunities in the Indian market, Citroen C4 SUV has recently been spotted testing on Indian roads. The mule undergoing the testing exercise was the previous-generation C4 Cactus and Citroen might be using this older model for benchmarking and reliability purposes.
It is important to know that in the European markets, the third-gen C4 has already succeeded C4 Cactus and comes equipped with attractive styling, a coupe profile, and a host of other significant features. The SUV is also available with lengthier 4600 mm footprints sold by the name C4 X. Globally Third-gen C4 is available in electric avatar as well as with petrol and diesel engines.
The model spotted undergoing the testing process in India was sans accessories and wearing a rugged look and basic styling. It featured a rectangular grill, chrome-finished Citroen logo, and flushed headlamps. The rear was characterized by double rectangular lamps and in the profile, there was a complete lack of visually appealing elements.
Citroen is slowly expanding its product portfolio for the Indian market and now has a total of four offerings including the most recently launched C3 Aircross. C3 Aircross SUV competes against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Toyota HyRyder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Kia Seltos among others. The other three cars in Citroen’s India portfolio include C3, C5 Aircross, and eC3 electric.
There is no official confirmation about the launch of the new C4 in India although it makes for a very attractive offering for Indian buyers. Especially given the fact that it is available in an electric variant globally, the SUV could emerge as a long-term workhorse for the company in India. It’ll be interesting to witness whether Citroen decides to bring C4 SUV to our shores and if yes then how Indian buyers will react to the new French Flair?
