A test mule of the BYD Atto 2 has been spotted on roads in India, suggesting that the carmaker is eyeing a launch in the Indian market. This model is set to sit below the Atto 3, which is already available for sale.
The Atto 2 made its debut at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show and is known by different names in various regions: it’s called the Yuan Up in China and the Yuan Pro in Brazil. Measuring 4,310mm in length, it’s slightly shorter than the Atto 3. Its design adopts a boxier, more upright aesthetic, while the interior is equipped with a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and leather upholstery.
In China, the Atto 2 is powered by an electric motor paired with a 45.1kWh battery, delivering 175bhp and 290Nm of torque, along with an NEDC-rated range of 380km. However, specifications for the Indian version are yet to be confirmed.
While BYD India has not made an official announcement regarding the launch, the pricing strategy will likely be crucial for the success of this compact EV. The Atto 2 appears to be the company’s next significant release across various markets. With its compact dimensions and feature-rich interior, it’s well-positioned to make an impact in the EV segment. Strictly targetting its foreign counterparts in India, it will go against the Hyundai Creta EV which is already not being received rather well like some other cars in this segment.
