Ducati marked a landmark moment for Indian motorsports with the Indian debut of the Ducati Desmo450 MX at the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), the world’s first franchise-based supercross league. The highly anticipated motocross machine was officially unveiled for the first time in the country on Sunday, 21st December, in front of an electrifying crowd in Calicut.
The unveiling offered motorsports enthusiasts a historic first look at Ducati’s latest off-road marvel, underscoring the brand’s growing presence and ambition in the Indian market. It also brought together a new generation racing league and a globally renowned high-performance motorcycle manufacturer, reflecting the evolving landscape of Indian motorsports. Set against the backdrop of the championship-deciding race, the Desmo450 MX showcased Ducati’s racing heritage as it made its Indian debut.

Bipul Chandra, Managing Director of Ducati India, commented: “The reception for the Desmo450 MX in Calicut was phenomenal. The passion and excitement from the fans were palpable, and it was the perfect welcome for our new off-road chapter. Unveiling the Desmo450 MX at the ISRL finale was the ideal decision, it confirms our belief in the immense potential of the Indian market, and we look forward to launching it next year.”
The Desmo450 MX is a result of Ducati’s philosophy of testing and refining solutions in elite racing competition. The bike features a unique 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine with Desmodromic distribution, a lightweight aluminum frame, and benchmark-setting electronics, all designed to deliver top-tier performance for both amateur and professional riders. It is in fact the first motocross bike in the world equipped with a Traction Control system capable of precisely defining the actual rear wheel slippage (patent pending).
