Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported a new benchmark for its mid-size SUV, the Hyundai CRETA, achieving annual sales of 2 lakh units within a single calendar year. This figure averages out to approximately 550 units sold each day, highlighting the model’s strong presence in the Indian automotive market. This year also marks a decade since the model’s introduction, showcasing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 9% from 2016 to 2025.
With a market share exceeding 34% in the mid-size SUV segment, the Hyundai CRETA has established itself as a prominent option in the country.
Since its launch, the Hyundai CRETA has consistently ranked as the highest-selling mid-size SUV in India each year, underscoring its role as a key player in a highly competitive automotive segment. The CRETA offers a range of powertrain and transmission options, including a 1.5l MPi petrol engine (available in manual and IVT), a 1.5l CRDi diesel engine (available in manual and automatic), a 1.5l turbo GDi petrol engine (in manual and DCT), and an electric variant. This diversity aims to accommodate a wide array of customer needs, making the CRETA available in both internal combustion engine and electric vehicles. Word on the street says next year is difficult for the company as Victoris and Sierra are already packed for a year of production and might take this crown away from Hyundai.
