Bajaj Auto is set to adjust its lineup across its Bajaj, Triumph, and KTM brands in line with the new GST regulations, focusing on models that will stay below the 350cc threshold. Triumph is anticipated to lead the charge with the first release of its 350cc bikes, but Bajaj is also gearing up to introduce the Pulsar 350 and Dominar 350.
While a specific launch date hasn’t been confirmed yet, we can expect both models to debut in India in the upcoming months. Additionally, bikes from Triumph and KTM will share derivatives of this new 350cc engine platform. This engine isn’t entirely new; it will likely feature a smaller bore while keeping the stroke the same, reducing its capacity from the current 373cc to 350cc.
This capacity reduction may modify the engine’s characteristics slightly, potentially resulting in a more accessible and friendly power delivery, albeit with a dip in overall power output. Aside from the engine size, no significant mechanical updates are expected for the Pulsar 350.
On the other hand, the Bajaj Dominar has been on the market for nearly nine years, with minimal updates during that time. This might be a good moment for Bajaj to enhance the Dominar 350 with more electronic rider aids, refresh its design, and work on reducing its weight.
Currently, both the Pulsar NS400Z and the Dominar 400 are subject to a 40 percent tax under the new GST framework. Although Bajaj has been absorbing this tax increase for the time being, the new 350cc platform will enable the company to price these bikes more competitively, placing them within the 18 percent tax bracket.
