BMW Motorrad has officially teased the highly awaited F 450 GS on its social media platforms, signaling an anticipated launch in India on April 23, 2026.
This new model is a significant advancement for BMW in the entry-level adventure bike segment, stepping in to replace the now-retired BMW G 310 GS in India. While the design and development of the F 450 GS took place in Germany, the production will exclusively occur in India at the TVS Motor Company’s facility in Hosur.
At the heart of the new BMW F 450 GS is a 420cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that boasts 48bhp at 8,750rpm and a peak torque of 43Nm at 6,750rpm. It is coupled with a six-speed gearbox, complete with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard features.
When it comes to design, the F 450 GS draws inspiration from the premium BMW R 1300 GS, embodying the brand’s signature adventure styling in a more compact and approachable format. On the technical side, expect long-travel suspension featuring USD front forks and a monoshock at the rear, which will allow adjustment for both on-road and off-road riding. The bike will sport a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, equipped with dual-purpose tyres.
BMW is planning to offer the F 450 GS in four variants: Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. The GS Trophy variant will focus more on off-road capabilities, incorporating features like tubeless wire-spoke wheels, specialized tyres, and advanced electronic aids.
Positioned as a premium choice in the sub-500cc adventure segment, the F 450 GS is expected to start pricing above Rs. 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its release, it will compete with established contenders like the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, both of which have solidified their presence in this market.
