The newly introduced Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé represents a significant advancement in high-performance electric vehicles, featuring an innovative drive concept designed for both peak power and continuous, repeatable performance. Based on the specialized AMG.EA architecture, this model stands as the first series-production electric vehicle to utilize specialized axial-flux motor technology in direct combination with a novel high-performance battery system. Customers will initially have the option to choose between two specific powertrains: the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupé and the Mercedes-AMG GT 55 4-Door Coupé. The vehicle utilizes three distinct axial-flux electric motors, which are positioned with two on the rear axle and one on the front axle, to generate a combined total system output of up to 860 kilowatts, or 1,169 horsepower.

This powerful setup enables the GT 63 model to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in a mere 2.1 seconds, and from zero to 200 kilometers per hour in exactly 6.4 seconds, achieving a top speed of 300 kilometers per hour when equipped with the optional Driver’s Package. The axial-flux motors, which rely on basic principles originally developed by YASA, feature a highly compact structural design where the electromagnetic flux runs parallel to the motor’s axis of rotation. This specific configuration allows for notably higher continuous power and increased torque compared to conventional electric motors. These unique motors are integrated directly into High-Performance Electric Drive Units located on each axle; the rear unit contains two motors paired with a single-stage planetary gearbox, while the front unit serves as a specialized booster motor capable of decoupling via a Disconnect Unit to increase energy efficiency under low load conditions.

Complementing this advanced motor technology is an 800-volt high-performance electric battery that utilizes directly cooled, tall, and exceptionally slim cylindrical cells. The sophisticated battery assembly features 2,660 individual cells distributed carefully across 18 laser-welded plastic modules, utilizing a specific NCMA chemistry and a silicon-containing anode to achieve an impressive energy density exceeding 298 watt-hours per kilogram. A critical structural aspect of the battery design is the advanced direct cooling system, which continuously circulates a non-conductive cooling oil around each individual cell to strictly maintain optimal operating temperatures, ensuring stable power delivery even under continuous demanding loads. The vehicle supports an ultra-fast charging capacity of up to 600 kilowatts, successfully allowing it to recharge approximately 460 kilometers of driving range in just ten minutes, or successfully transition from a ten to eighty percent state of charge in only eleven minutes.

To structurally support these high-performance electrical components, the vehicle body is constructed using an intelligent material mix consisting of aluminum, steel, and advanced fiber-reinforced composites to guarantee both torsional rigidity and overall crash safety. The high-voltage battery unit is integrated centrally into the overarching e-skateboard structure, securely housed within a protective safety box specifically designed to absorb and subsequently dissipate potential impact forces during collisions. Furthermore, global thermal management is expertly handled by a Central Coolant Hub, which heavily integrates multiple pumps, sensors, and valves to intelligently distribute optimal cooling power precisely across the battery and independent drive units.

Aerodynamic efficiency across the exterior is meticulously managed by the active AEROKINETICS system, which includes specialized underbody venturi flow plates alongside an active rear diffuser to dynamically maximize structural downforce and driving stability. For precise dynamic handling, the dedicated AMG RACE ENGINEER system utilizes advanced central computing chips alongside specialized rotary controllers to actively coordinate motor response, wheel traction, and overall cornering behavior based entirely on the user’s selected drive program. Finally, the vehicle includes a specialized AMGFORCE S+ software mode, which effectively provides a heavily simulated V8 acoustic and haptic sensory experience by dynamically mixing over 1,600 individual sound files in real-time, thereby recreating the distinctive physical characteristics of a traditional combustion engine directly within an entirely modern electric vehicle platform.
