The next-generation 2028 BMW X7 and its all-electric counterpart, the iX7, are expected to launch in the summer of 2027. Codenamed G67 (with Alpina variants codenamed G69), the vehicles will be produced in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Moving away from the radical “Neue Klasse” design language, the new models will feature an evolutionary exterior styling with a familiar boxy profile, an upright fascia, and modernized split headlights. On the exterior, conventional door handles will be replaced by aerodynamic winglets equipped with mechanical overrides.
Inside, the cabin will undergo a significant technological shift, replacing the traditional instrument binnacle and iDrive controller with a new “Panoramic Vision” dashboard system. The electric iX7 will be powered by dual electric motors, with top configurations capable of delivering up to 800 horsepower. It is expected to utilize a 140-plus kWh battery featuring higher-density gen-six cells, offering an estimated range of over 400 miles and supporting up to 460 kW DC fast charging. Meanwhile, the internal combustion X7 will continue to offer six- and eight-cylinder engine options, including a turbo diesel for Europe, with base six-cylinder models producing approximately 300 horsepower.
