The BMW F 450 RR is a lightweight supersport motorcycle developed for the 48-horsepower (A2 license) class, combining precise handling and an immediate racing feel for winding country roads and racetracks. Its development focuses on maximizing riding pleasure through rigorous weight optimization, a powerful parallel-twin engine, and a ready-to-ride weight of 177 kg. Visually and structurally, the model adopts elements of current BMW RR design language, featuring a pronounced nose-down and tail-up stance, a signature flyline, winglets, asymmetrical side fairing panels with gills, a split face, and an LED headlight system with distinctive daytime running light signatures.

At the center of the motorcycle is a liquid-cooled, 420 cc parallel-twin engine derived from the F 450 GS but specifically tuned for supersport performance. It features a 135-degree crankpin offset, a counter-rotating balance shaft, and a stainless-steel underfloor muffler with two catalytic converters, delivering 35 kW (48 hp) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Approximately 80 percent of its maximum torque is accessible at 3,000 rpm, while internal friction optimization and high-tech materials maintain efficiency. The engine meets Euro 5+ emissions standards with a fuel consumption rate of 3.8 liters per 100 km, supporting a range exceeding 350 km from its 14-liter fuel tank and adhering to a 10,000 km service interval. Magnesium covers are utilized on the clutch and transmission to minimize weight.

Power is transmitted via a multi-plate wet clutch, a constant-mesh six-speed transmission, and a left-side secondary drive chain. An optional Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) uses a centrifugal mechanism to engage and disengage the clutch automatically based on engine speed, preventing the engine from stalling at idle while keeping the manual clutch lever functional for rider input. During overrun, the clutch remains closed to preserve engine braking until the vehicle approaches a stop. Additionally, Shift Assistant Pro is included as standard on all variants except the base model, enabling rapid clutchless upshifts and downshifts.

The chassis utilizes a welded tubular steel space frame with integrated forged components, incorporating the parallel-twin engine as a load-bearing element. Front wheel control is managed by a 43 mm KYB upside-down telescopic fork with 140 mm of travel, while the rear uses a hollow-cast aluminum double-sided swingarm paired with a directly mounted KYB central spring strut providing 140 mm of travel. The Sport suspension configuration provides adjustable rebound and compression damping on the front fork, alongside adjustable spring preload and rebound damping on the rear strut. The geometry includes a 1,405 mm wheelbase, a 23.4-degree steering-head angle, and a 110 mm trail. Cast-aluminum 17-inch wheels are fitted with 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear tubeless tires.

Braking is handled by a front floating single-disc system featuring a Brembo four-piston monobloc fixed caliper and a 310 mm disc, alongside a rear single-disc system with a ByBre single-piston floating caliper and a 240 mm disc. Standard electronic safety systems include lean-angle-optimized BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), engine drag torque control (MSR), and a dynamic brake light. Standard riding modes consist of Rain, Road, and Race, while the available Riding Modes Pro adds an individually configurable Race Pro mode.

Ergonomics feature a clip-on handlebar setup connected to a forged-aluminum triple clamp, a contoured 14-liter fuel tank, and a standard two-piece seat set at a height of 790 mm. Adjustments to seating height are supported via accessory options including a high Sport rider’s seat (+20 mm) and a low rider’s seat (-15 mm). Foot controls, the side stand, and the gearshift and footbrake levers are constructed from forged aluminum, and passenger footpeg brackets bolt directly to the rear frame. The shift pattern is fully reversible for track use.

The electrical system comprises an LED headlight, taillight, and turn indicators, a 364 W generator, a maintenance-free 12V/8Ah battery, a 700 W starter motor, and heated grips as standard equipment. A 6.5-inch TFT display provides connectivity features, a Pure Ride Screen, a USB-C port, and media management, with M Sport variants offering extra Sport screens and a lap timer. Four equipment variants are offered: the Base model in Cosmic Black; the Sport model in Racing Red featuring Shift Assistant Pro and Sport suspension; the M Sport model in Snaefell white / M Motorsport with Riding Modes Pro, Shift Assistant Pro, Sport suspension, and distinct frame and rim graphics; and the M Sport with Innovation Package, which further incorporates the Easy Ride Clutch.
