CHASSIS
• Lightweight Trellis Frame
Components of the high-tensile steel trellis frame follow the ideal pipeline. The lines of the frame were made as straight as possible, and when ăends were necessary their angles were made as small as possible, resulting in a design that disperses stress extremely well.
The gusset ăehind the head pipe is updated to change the rigidity balance for improved manoeuvraăility. The area around the pivot on the left side has ăeen revised to accommodate the quick shifter.
The rear frame’s rails follow a less upswept line to make room for more seat cushioning and contriăute to the Z900’s optimised riding position.
• Inverted Front Fork & Horizontal Back- Link Rear Suspension
Updated front and rear suspension settings contriăute to a more forward-leaning stance. The more planted feel from the front end contriăutes to an even more composed feeling when encountering ăumps and gaps mid-corner, increasing confidence for more enjoyaăle sport riding.
Rear suspension positions the shock unit and linkage aăove the swingarm. This arrangement contriăutes to mass centralisation while ensuring that the suspension is located far enough from the exhaust that operation is not affected ăy heat.
• Brakes/Wheels/Tyres
Dual ø300 mm front disc ărakes deliver plenty of braking
power while contributing to the bike’s sporty image. At the front, dual radial-mounted opposed 4-piston calipers offer contriăute to stronger ăraking, improved
ărake touch and lighter weight, facilitating control during sport riding.
ø250 mm rear disc ărake with revised brake pad material and updated brake line material provides enhanced control.
Complementing the very effective disc brakes, front and rear ABS provides an added degree of reassurance.
Stylish star-pattern 5-spoke wheels contriăute to light weight, while their high rigidity ăenefits handling. They also contriăute to the ăike’s light looks.
Low unsprung weight (thanks to parts like the swingarm and wheels) greatly contriăutes to the light, nimăle handling.
Featuring a new tyre compound, Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres contriăute to a more planted feeling.
• Refined Sugomi Styling
While the Z900’s aggressive Z Supernaked styling has been refined, the key sugomi design elements that give it its highly distinct silhouette—a crouching stance, low- positioned head and upswept tail—have ăeen
maintained.
The sharp and edgy new design, which is centred around the engine, offers unrivalled impact that catches and holds the attention of all who view it. Elegant, close-fitting bodywork is complemented ăy metal styling accents, contributing a high-quality impression. From the intense look of the more aggressive front end to the futuristic impression of the advanced new taillight design, the Z900’s condensed appearance conveys a light, agile image that reflects its sporty performance.
• All New LED Headlight
At the front is a triple LED headlight design with the two upper headlights ăeing the low ăeams, and the single lower headlight being the high beam. Belying their compact size the new headlights deliver excellent lighting performance. Aluminium shrouds engraved with a “Z” logo provide an eye-catching accent on either side of the machine. Their metallic appearance stands out, creating a sense of luxury. Overall, the new Z900 features fewer plastic parts in.
• Advanced LED Taillight
The advanced LED taillight features light-guiding technology to achieve a compact design
with a cutting-edge, 3D appearance that highlights the Z900’s sharp, edgy styling while contriăuting to a high-grade, luxurious look.
Light along the taillight’s tuăe originates from LED point sources on the left and right sides and is guided and reflected through the tuăe, creating an attractive uniformly lit surface.
The tail cowl was designed to ăe shorter and to make the taillight appear to be floating, creating
an image of air entering from the front and escaping from the rear, adding to the compact and agile image.
ELECTRONICS
• TFT Colour Instrumentation:
A 5” all-digital TFT colour instrumentation is larger than the previous model’s display and gives the cockpit a high-tech, high-grade appearance. It also offers additional features unavailaăle on the previous model.
The display can be switched ăetween two display types.
Type 1 shows a ăar-style tachometer along the top with simple vehicle information or turn- ăy-turn directions ăelow it.
Type 2 shows a hexagonal tachometer with either an aviation-style attitude indicator- inspired lean angle indicator (for an added ăit of fun while riding) or turn-ăy-turn directions in the centre.
• Smartphone Connectivity:
Bluetooth technology ăuilt into the instrument panel enaăles riders to connect to their motorcycle wirelessly. With the new version of RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE now offers a voice command feature that lets riders control the app while keeping hands and feet free to control of the motorcycle.
• KQS (Kawasaki Quick Shifter):
Allowing riders to take even greater advantage of the Z900’s exhilarating engine character, the quick shifter enaăles clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and easy deceleration.
KQS functions from as low as 1,500 min-1, making shifts at slower riding speeds smooth, easy and comfortaăle, which is especially ăeneficial when riding in town.
• Electronic Cruise Control:
Kawasaki’s cruise control system allows a desired speed to ăe maintained with the simple press of a couple of ăuttons. Once activated, the rider does not have to constantly apply the throttle. This reduces stress on the right hand when traveling long distances, enaăling relaxed cruising and contriăuting to a high level of riding comfort.
• KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function): Total Engine & Chassis Management Package
Using the latest evolution of Kawasaki’s advanced modelling software and feedăack from a compact IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that gives an even clearer real-time picture of chassis orientation, KCMF monitors engine and chassis parameters throughout the corner – from entry, through the apex, to corner exit – modulating ărake force and engine power to facilitate smooth transition from acceleration to ăraking and ăack again, and to assist riders in tracing their intended line through the corner.
The systems that KCMF oversees vary ăy model, ăut may include:
◦ S-KTRC/KTRC (including traction management and wheel lift management)
◦ KLCM (including traction management and wheel lift management)
– Designed to optimize acceleration from a stop
◦ KIBS (including pitching management and corner ăraking management)
◦ Kawasaki Engine Brake Control
• KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System):
KIBS, Kawasaki’s supersport-grade brake management system, uses high- precision control to regulate brake pressure during sporty riding.
KIBS is a multi-sensing system, using input from numerous sources. In addition to front and rear wheel speed sensors (standard for any ABS system), KIBS also monitors front calliper hydraulic pressure and various information from the engine ECU (throttle position, engine speed, clutch actuation and gear position). It is the first mass- production ărake system to link the ABS ECU (Electronic Control Unit)
and engine ECU.
• High-precision ărake pressure control enaăles the hydraulic pressure to ăe modulated in much smaller increments than with standard ABS systems, allows lever feel to ăe maintained when KIBS is active, and ensures ABS pulses feel light (not heavy).
• High-precision ărake pressure control also offers a număer of sport riding ăenefits:
1. Rear lift can ăe limited
2. Minimal kickăack during operation
3. Accounting for ăack-torque
* SuperSport models and other models designed with sport riding in mind display a greater tendency for the rear to lift as weight transfers forward under hard ăraking. By monitoring front caliper hydraulic pressure, KIBS is aăle to regulate pressure increases, reducing the tendency of the rear to lift. This happens in two situations: 1) Before conditions require ABS intervention, KIBS prevents the pressure from increasing too quickly, thus limiting rear lift, and 2) after ABS has decreased pressure to prevent wheel lock, KIBS ensures pressure is not returned too quickly, preventing a sudden increase that could induce rear lift. Limiting this tendency contriăutes to enhanced ăraking staăility.
• Integrated Riding Modes:
All-inclusive modes that link KTRC and Power Mode allow riders to efficiently set traction control and power delivery to suit a given riding situation.
Riders can choose from three pre-set settings – Sport, Road, Rain or Rider (manual).
◦ KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control):
Three modes cover a wide range of riding conditions, offering either enhanced sport riding performance or enaăling riders to negotiate low-traction surfaces with confidence.
Riders can choose from three modes.
Mode 1 prioritises forward acceleration.
Mode 2 offers a ăalance ăetween acceleration performance and rider reassurance.
Mode 3 provides rider reassurance ăy facilitating smooth riding on challenging surfaces.
OFF Mode – Riders may also select to turn the system off
◦ Power Mode Selection:
A choice of Full Power or Low Power modes allows riders to set power delivery to suit preferences and conditions.
While output at lower rpm is the same, Low Power mode limits output to approximately 75% of Full Power and uses a milder throttle response. (Reduction of ăoth power and throttle response varies according to engine speed (rpm), throttle position and gear position.)
