LARTE Design has completed a new full-exterior build for the BMW XM finished entirely in a matte olive tone, painted body and dry-carbon components alike, so the car reads as one uninterrupted colour rather than a factory shape with add-on parts. A facelift would only change details. What the XM actually needs is what this build delivers: a colour and a presence that belong to it alone.
Most conversations about updating a divisive design start with a facelift — new lights, a reworked grille, a software refresh. LARTE Design starts somewhere else: with the car’s own architecture, rebuilt in 100% dry carbon and matched to a single body colour from the hood to the rear diffuser. The result isn’t a revised XM. It’s a specific one — the only one built exactly this way.
The painted body panels and the dry-carbon exterior components share the same matte olive tone, developed together rather than chosen separately — paint matched against the cured carbon samples, panel by panel, until no seam marks where one material ends and the other begins. It’s the same colour-matching discipline LARTE Design applies across its Level 2 customization programme, here carried onto one of BMW’s most divisive models.
The kit covers the XM’s front and rear architecture, wide fender extensions, side skirts and a forged wheel set finished to match, engineered to mount to the car’s factory attachment points without cutting or drilling. Underneath, the XM’s M Hybrid powertrain — a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 paired with an electric motor for 644 hp and 590 lb-ft combined, 0-60 mph in roughly 4.1 seconds and up to 30 miles of electric-only range — stays completely stock. Every driver-assistance system and parking sensor remains fully functional.
This build represents LARTE Design’s Customization Level 2 positioning: personalization engineered directly into the vehicle’s structural components, colour matched across paint and carbon rather than chosen from a factory list. It is the same philosophy behind the studio’s work on Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Cadillac platforms, now carried onto BMW’s most argued-about model.
A facelift changes details. This changes what the car is. The BMW XM doesn’t need new headlights to stand out — it needs an identity, and that’s exactly what LARTE Design just built.
