Three months back, we fitted our Suzuki Access 125 with a fresh set of Eurogrip Remora tyres at the front and Conta 725 tyres at the back. Eurogrip markets these as perfect for scooters like the Suzuki Access 125. This is exactly what we got when we asked the good folks at Eurogrip for scooter tyres instead of the usual motorcycle tyres we always end up testing with them. This was done to get an idea on how things on the other side of two-wheeler world.
Suzuki Access 125 first impression after first 100 kms of run in was that it now grips the road significantly better, which boosts your confidence. This helped the family members go over potholes, large manhole covers with ease and for me, when leaning into corners, it just made the scooter feel all new and sporty suddenly. Suzuki Access 125 is after all a commuter in disguise with sporty intentions coming out thanks to these tyres, especially the Remora front end. Riding over rumble strips, we noticed a comfy cushioned effect, making the ride smoother by absorbing bumps effectively. This is significantly better than all its rivals we have tested till date. The compliance comes from tyres as well and not just the suspension, the Remora at least clearly proves that.
The braking performance has also seen a clear improvement, as these tyres use a flexible polymer compound that reduces stopping distances. Suzuki Access 125 is already the most fuel efficient scooter in this class, there hasn’t been a big change either positive or negative, so full marks there too.
Suzuki Access 125 has navigated wet patches and puddles without any issues in the ongoing early rains in Mumbai which started in mid-May and last week of June. Suzuki Access 125 felt far more stable while high speed lane changes, and that is a big improvement now. With an “L” rating, these tyres are intended for speeds up to 120 km/h. Over the past few weeks, to finish this report, we’ve pushed the Suzuki Access 125 to a top speed of 95 km/h, and the tyres kept it firmly planted throughout. We’ve also had a pillion rider of all sizes and both genders said that it definitely felt more planted than before.
Overall, we’re quite impressed with the tyres—they’ve made our rides more enjoyable, sporty and most importantly without sacrifice on safety.
