Speculations of Hyundai launching its micro-SUV in the Indian market have been going on for quite some time now. However, they are confirmed as the Exter SUV is set for launch this year. Fueling this news are the latest spy shots that snapped the smallest Korean SUV spied in Korea. The test mule spotted had no disguise revealing its proportions and silhouette of the upcoming SUV.

Hyundai Exter Micro SUV will rival the Maruti Ignis, Tata Punch and Citroen C3. Maruti has witnessed decent success with Ignis while the Punch is the segment king in terms of sales and Citroen C3 is currently fighting for its position as it deserves to be on the top with recent changes and the spectacular dynamics and ride quality it possesses.

Hyundai Exter Micro SUV will be around 3.7 meters in length. It features upright styling with typical SUV design cues like a flat bonnet, raised suspension, a large glasshouse, and mildly squared wheel arches. Other important design elements such as multi-tier headlamps and large alloy wheels will help the SUV to flaunt its premium appeal.

Based on the K1 Platform, Hyundai Exter Micro SUV will share its engine, gearbox, and other hardware settings with Grand i10 Nios. The 1.2-litre petrol engine will be a defacto choice although lower trims of SUV. On the transmission front, a 5-speed manual transmission and AMT will be offered to prospective buyers. A turbo engine will with 100 PS could be on offer. In terms of competition, the new Hyundai Exter Micro SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra KUV1OO in the future as well. Kia might also launch this product with its unique styling and powertrain option in the near future.
