Hyundai Motor India Limited has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service ownership model for the Hyundai Creta Electric, allowing customers to purchase the vehicle at a starting ex-showroom price of 10.99 lakh rupees alongside a battery EMI starting at 3.9 rupees per kilometer. This ownership model aims to reduce the upfront acquisition cost of the electric vehicle. Additionally, the company has added an integrated side foot step to ease entry and exit, and will provide a 7.4 kW wall box charger with the HC variants of the vehicle line-up to support home charging.
The vehicle is available with two battery choices, including a 51.4 kWh long-range option that delivers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 510 kilometers, and a 42 kWh short-range option. The long-range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds. For charging, the battery can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 39 minutes using a DC fast charger. Hyundai provides a battery warranty covering 8 years or 160,000 kilometers, whichever occurs earlier.
The Creta Electric comes equipped with vehicle-to-load technology that allows users to power external electrical devices both inside and outside the vehicle. It also features a single-pedal drive system, known as i-Pedal, which enables drivers to accelerate, decelerate, and stop the car completely using only the accelerator pedal. Other technical and safety inclusions consist of the Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS safety suite, a digital key for smartphone or smartwatch compatibility, and active air flaps designed to manage airflow for vehicle component cooling and improved aerodynamic performance.
During its testing phase, the vehicle recorded a national milestone in the India Book of Records by covering 1,326.5 kilometers in 24 hours, completing its first 1,000 kilometers in 18 hours and 31 minutes. The vehicle was also evaluated during a promotional campaign where 100 creators drove the car across 10 states, 26 cities, and over 200 destinations, accumulating 15,000 kilometers over a span of more than 100 days.
To support its electric vehicle infrastructure, Hyundai Motor India Limited has established public charging facilities across 183 locations, currently operating 214 DC chargers and 399 total charging points. The company plans to expand this network by installing approximately 600 fast public charging stations over the next seven years. Furthermore, the company has integrated an ‘EV Charge’ feature into the myHyundai mobile application, which allows users to locate and access more than 10,000 existing EV charging points throughout India.
