India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd. (IKM) has officially launched the MY27 Kawasaki Versys 1100 in the Indian market, priced at an ex-showroom starting rate of INR 13,89,000. Deliveries for the updated adventure-touring motorcycle are scheduled to begin in mid-September 2026.
Powertrain and Performance
The updated model features an increased engine displacement, moving to a 1,099 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line four-cylinder DOHC engine. The engine produces a maximum power output of 135 PS at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 112 N·m at 7,600 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed return transmission, the updated model incorporates revised gear ratios—including longer 5th and 6th gears—and a lower rev limit aimed at enhancing power delivery in the low-to-mid range while improving overall fuel economy.
Chassis and Hardware
Constructed on an aluminium twin-tube frame that utilizes the engine as a stressed member, the motorcycle employs a long-travel suspension set-up designed for varied road surfaces.
Front Suspension: Ø43 mm inverted fork with rebound damping and spring preload adjustability offering 150 mm of wheel travel.
Rear Suspension: Horizontal Backlink, gas-charged rear shock with rebound damping and remote spring preload adjustability providing 152 mm of wheel travel.
Braking System: Dual ø310 mm front discs with opposed 4-piston radial-mount monobloc calipers, paired with an enlarged ø260 mm rear disc (up from ø250 mm) gripped by a single-piston caliper.
Electronics and Rider Aids
The MY27 Versys 1100 comes equipped with an updated suite of electronic rider aids managed through an integrated Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Key electronic features include:
LCD Instrumentation: A negative display LCD screen providing standard trip data, gear position, fuel level, bank angle tracking, and indicator lights.
KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control): Features three selectable modes alongside an option to turn the system off.
Power Modes: Offers Full Power and Low Power modes, the latter reducing output to approximately 75% with a milder throttle response.
Integrated Safety Systems: Equipped with Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) and Kawasaki Intelligent Anti-Lock Brake System (KIBS).
Cruise Control Standard Electronic Cruise Control for highway riding.
Ergonomics and Availability
Rider convenience features include a tool-less adjustable windshield with a 65 mm stepless range, an upright riding position, a handlebar-mounted USB Type-C charging outlet, and a 12V DC socket in the cockpit.
The motorcycle will be offered in a single color option: **Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Gray / Metallic Diablo Black**. Optional factory accessories available for purchase include a bi-directional Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS)—now operational at lower rpm limits (1,500 rpm)—along with hand covers, LED fog lamps, frame sliders, and a larger windshield.
