A few weeks back,there was news that Kinetic Green had filed for a design patent resembling a modern electric version of the beloved Kinetic Honda DX scooter. Well, it looks like the scooter has now been spotted out in the wild during testing, and there are some intriguing details to unpack.
The images reveal a square, boxy design that unmistakably echoes the original Kinetic Honda DX\ZX. The distinctive boxy headlight and the outline of the panels make it quite evident where the inspiration stems from. The mirrors from the past are pure nostalgia to me as owner from the past.
One particularly eye-catching detail is the red bodywork peeking through the camouflaged coverings. The red stitching on the seat hints that Kinetic could offer this model in various color options, adding a touch of customization for buyers.
As for the mechanical components visible on the test scooter, we can see a hub-mounted motor, front disc brakes, a dual shock absorber setup, a center stand, and what seem to be 12-inch wheels. The presence of the hub-mounted motor suggests that the performance will likely be moderate, probably in the range of the iQube or Chetak models.
Given that this prototype shows no rough edges or exposed wiring, it seems that Kinetic Green is in the final phases of development for this electric scooter. While it’s still uncertain how it will position itself in the market, based on these images, it appears to be aimed at being a practical choice for families.
Considering that Kinetic Green doesn’t hold as much recognition in the electric scooter sector compared to more established brands, we anticipate a launch price around the Rs 1 lakh mark (ex-showroom). The launch could happen in the coming months, possibly aligning with the festive season. We are eagerly waiting to get our hands on this one.
