KTM has officially introduced the new RC 450 in China, priced at CNY 34,999 (around Rs 4.73 lakh). This latest model comes from a partnership with CFMoto and shares various components with the CFMoto 450 SR and 450 SR-S, including its chassis and single-sided aluminum swingarm. However, the KTM variant stands out with enhanced performance and a lighter build. Its 449cc parallel-twin engine produces 56 hp (41 kW), edging out the 52 hp of the CFMoto version, and allows the bike to achieve a top speed of 195 km/h. Weighing in at 168 kg, the RC 450 is also a bit lighter than its CFMoto counterpart, resulting in a better power-to-weight ratio.
In terms of design, the RC 450 takes heavy cues from the KTM 990 RC R, showcasing a sharp and angular aesthetic complete with aerodynamic winglets at the front. The motorcycle boasts high-quality components, including adjustable WP Suspension USD forks and a rear monoshock. The braking system features WP components with a 320 mm front disc and dual-channel ABS. On the tech side, riders will find a Bosch lean-angle adaptive control system, traction control, cruise control, and an electronic throttle with selectable ride modes, all accessible through a TFT display with various connectivity options.
While this specific model has launched in China, KTM is also working on a separate 450cc twin-cylinder platform for international markets such as India and Europe. This global-spec RC 450 is projected to debut around 2027, likely manufactured in India. The international version will be tuned to meet European A2 license regulations, which means it will have a power restriction to 48 hp. Once it enters the global market, it will compete with established middleweight sportbikes like the Aprilia RS 457, Yamaha R3, and Kawasaki Ninja 400.
