Mahindra rolls out 1 million vehicles from all 3 manufacturing plants

Mahindra recently crossed a significant milestone, rolling out the 1 millionth vehicle from each of its 3 automotive manufacturing plants in Chakan, Zaheerabad and Haridwar. With this, the Automotive manufacturing facilities in these three locations joined the 1 million club along with the company’s Nashik and Kandivali plants.

Mahindra is a full-range player in the Automotive sector with a presence in almost every segment of the automobile industry from commercial vehicles (3 wheelers / light commercial vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles), utility vehicles, sports utility vehicles (from entry level to premium SUVs), sedans and electric vehicles.

Mahindra’s Automotive plants are fully equipped manufacturing facilities with Press Shops, Body Shops, CED Lines, Paint Shops and Assembly Lines, and many have won several accolades since their inception.

Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd., Chakan is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd set up in 2007 to push our technology to the edge. MVML is a Greenfield facility built and established at Chakan, near Pune, Maharashtra to integrate the best in manufacturing technology, operational excellence, environmental sustainability and social responsibility. The facility is accredited with the latest ISO 9001, ISO 140001 and OHSAS certifications.

The plant journey started back in 1985. M&M joined the hands in 1990 and became 100% subsidiary of M&M in 1995. The Mahindra product portfolio expanded to include UV & 3Ws in addition to LCV. Cumulative plant production crossed 1 lac vehicles in 2005 & 5 lac vehicles in 2013. After successful launch of Jeeto in 2015 volumes started growing at a faster pace and the plant crossed significant milestone of 1 million vehicles in April-2019.While the earlier Milestone of 5 Lac vehicles was achieved in 2013, the next 5 lac vehicles production was achieved in just the last 6 years. FY19 has also been a remarkable year for the plant as the volumes crossed 1 lac milestone for the first time, in a particular financial year.

Mahindra Haridwar plant was inaugurated on 8th December, 2005 to cater the need of the customers from Northern & Eastern part of the country. The Plant began its Manufacturing Operations in January 2006 and by the end of 2018 the facility started manufacturing a range of vehicles – Bolero, Scorpio, Pickup, Champion, Alfa, eAlfa and GIO and currently it produces 4 models & 44 variants.It took the Haridwar plant 8 years to achieve the first 5 lac vehicle milestone, while the next 5 lac vehicle was produced within just 5 years.
