The global anniversary journey “140 YEARS. 140 PLACES” has successfully arrived in Singapore, marking its halfway point. After travelling more than 35,000 kilometres across twenty countries visiting among others Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Nizza, Monte Carlo, St. Moritz, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, the Argentinian Pampas, The Andes, Montevideo, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tuscaloosa, New York, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Miami, Kuala Lumpur, Quanzhou, Bangkok, Seoul, Beijing, Hanoi and Tokyo.
The final leg in Southeast Asia with the stop in Singapore concludes the convoy’s Asian leg after crossing Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia with an extraordinary event with 2,000 attendees and 140 cars on display. The half point is a powerful moment of the intercontinental journey that connects heritage, innovation, and global communities. The three S‑Class vehicles – named Bertha, Carl and Gottlieb honouring the brand’s pioneers Bertha Benz, Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler – are embodying 140 years of pioneering spirit, engineering excellence, and innovation. The world drive started on January 29, 2026 with the world premiere event of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class in Stuttgart.
“Reaching the midpoint of our global S‑Class tour here in Singapore is more than an achievement. This milestone reflects the passion that connects our brand with Mercedes‑Benz customers, fans, and communities around the world. It is made possible by the unwavering dedication of our team and the engagement of our partners and guests. Together, we look ahead to the opening of the new Mercedes‑Benz Studio Singapore and will continue to follow the S‑Class journey as it makes its way home in October.” Christina Schenck, Vice President Digital & Communications and Investor Relations, Mercedes‑Benz AG
During the “140 Year. 140 Places” world tour, the new Mercedes‑Benz S‑Classes crossed an exceptional range of climates, landscapes and elevations across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. From the icy alpine regions of St. Moritz and the extreme heights of the Andes to the tropical heat of Rio de Janeiro, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Miami, the journey covered an average temperature spectrum of over 40 degrees Celsius ranging from freezing to scorching. During its drive, the tour experienced dramatic changes in altitude: starting from destinations located at sea level, the route climbed to almost 4,000 metres above sea level. The routes connected world-famous metropolitan cities, coastal regions, deserts, mountains, tropical environments and vast plains, demonstrating ability of the new S‑Class to perform across some of the most demanding and contrasting driving conditions on the planet.
Mercedes‑Benz Studio Singapore: begin of a new chapter
The Singapore event hosted approximately 150 media representatives and content creators, alongside around 340 customers and invited guests. Designed as an exclusive and curated experience, the gathering enabled meaningful exchanges and proofed how the 140 YEARS. 140 PLACES journey connects people and places with the Mercedes‑Benz brand.
A key highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Mercedes‑Benz Studio Singapore. As the first Mercedes‑Benz Studio in Southeast Asia and among eighteen studios worldwide, it marks an important brand touchpoint in the region. The Studio will be located within the architecturally striking “Future of Us” Pavilion, a structure composed of approximately 11,000 unique aluminium panels designed to respond to Singapore’s tropical climate. Through intelligent design, the pavilion can create an environment up to 15°C cooler without conventional air-conditioning. The Mercedes‑Benz Studios are destinations that offer culture, community, and brand experiences – uniting customer acquisition, brand loyalty and engagement along the customer journey. Each studio is tailored to its city, following an overall concept that supports consistent implementation across markets.
With the halfway point reached after four months and driving over 35,000 kilometres, the intercontinental tour will continue in Australia and New Zealand, followed by India. Via Africa, the threesome S-Classes Bertha, Carl and Gottlieb will then return to Europe. After a tour through Northern Europe, they are expected to arrive back home in Stuttgart by mid of October this year.
Since Carl Benz filed the patent for the first automobile 140 years ago and Gottlieb Daimler built his motorised carriage shortly afterwards, Mercedes‑Benz has dedicated itself to constant innovation and to creating the world’s most desirable cars for customers. This ambition has driven every innovation – from the world’s first automobile in 1886 to the biggest product launch programme in the company’s history that is currently underway. With its passion for performance and pioneering power, excellence and an unwavering commitment to customer service, the brand has consistently shaped the future of mobility. The result goes well beyond engineering achievement – it creates the unmistakable feeling that leads through everything Mercedes‑Benz does: Welcome home.
Mercedes-Benz is celebrating 140 years of innovation by driving three new S-Class saloons on a trans-continental journey to 140 locations worldwide. Each place highlights the brand’s technology, heritage, pioneering spirit, and worldwide presence. Along the way customers, fans and colleagues will get to join in the celebrations – on an epic adventure that will run until October.
