The third-generation Honda Amaze has achieved an impressive 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP (New Car Safety Assessment Program), marking it as the second sedan and compact sedan to undergo testing by this road safety organization. The Amaze earned a strong 5-star rating for adult occupant protection (AOP) and 4-star for child occupant protection (COP) during BNCAP’s crash evaluations. This rating applies to all six variants of the third-gen model, which is currently available alongside the earlier second-gen Amaze.
The Amaze’s standout 5-star AOP rating stems from its score of 28.33 out of 32 points. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 14.33 out of 16 points, providing average to good protection for the driver and good protection for the front passenger. In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Amaze received 14 out of 16 points, although it showed marginal protection for the driver’s chest area. Additionally, BNCAP assessed the Amaze as satisfactory in the side pole impact test.
The dynamic score for the Amaze is notable at 23.81 out of 24, with a child restraint system (CRS) installation score of 12 out of 12, and a vehicle assessment score of 5 out of 13 points. For child occupant protection, the Amaze received a commendable score of 40.81 out of 49, achieving a dynamic score of 23.81 out of 24, with just minor deductions for the 18-month-old dummy. It earned full marks for protecting the 3-year-old dummy. The Amaze scored 12 out of 12 for child restraint installation but received a 5 out of 13 in vehicle assessment.
In terms of safety features, all six variants of the third-gen Honda Amaze are equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), rear parking sensors, and seat belt reminders as standard. Mid-range variants come with a rear camera and blind spot monitoring, while the top variant includes an advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) suite.
Earlier this year, the Maruti Dzire was the first sedan to undergo crash testing by Bharat NCAP, achieving a 5-star rating in AOP with an overall score of 29.46 out of 32, which is 1.13 points higher than the Amaze. Notably, when comparing child occupant protection scores, the Dzire secured a 5-star rating with a score of 41.57 out of 49, while the Amaze received a 4-star rating with 40.81 out of 49.
