Threatened by connectivity features offered on the family scooter Bajaj Chetak last week, this week Ather has revised the prices of its most affordable offering, the 450S, and the e-scooter now starts at Rs 1,09,999 without the Pro Pack. This means the price is down by Rs 20,000. Specifying the 450S with the Pro Pack adds an extra Rs 10,000 to the price and unlocks connectivity features. Meanwhile, existing owners just bought it in December and November are sharing distrust they have suddenly built with the brand.

With 5.4 kW and 22 Nm of torque, the 450S is lively and has a top speed of 90 km/h. With the Pro package you get access to features like bodyguards, crash safety, towing and theft alert, as well as driving modes and Bluetooth connectivity.

The 450S has a battery capacity of 2.9 kWh and an IDC range of 115 km in the lowest mode, with an overall range of 90 km. Home charging is very slow, taking 6 hours and 36 minutes to go from 0 to 80%, but 450S can be charged at Ather Grid fast charging stations, which isn’t convenient for all consumers charging at home. Ather is already in loss by selling a small scooter which is now being publicized as a sporty scooter because it cannot do volumes. The scooter now has a faster variant called Apex with a new regen that works from 100% battery SOC. The Bajaj Chetak 2024 charges in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The new price puts the Ather 450S below its nearest rival, the Bajaj Chetak Urbane (Rs 1).15 lakh), the entry-level TVS iQube (Rs 1.23 lakh) and the Ola S1 Air (Rs 1.20 lakh). All prices now include chargers applicable ex-showroom Bangalore thanks to the government policy where Ather like other manufacturers were caught selling charger on a separate invoice and paid fines in crores. Ather is now making a “family scooter” coming in late 2025.
