The Bajaj-Triumph duo announced the new 400cc and there has been a lot of speculation that this platform could emerge in the future. One of these speculations was the Triumph Thruxton 400 Cafe Racer. As of now, the company has launched Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. This is the first time the Thruxton 400 has been tested and we like what we see. Faired Triumph Thruxton 400 Spotted Tests Cafe Racers have an attractive design language that many enthusiasts love. Triumph has a Thruxton range to suit this target group as the Speed is being criticized for looking a bit small in proportions.

But anyone who has been longing for a smaller displacement cafe racer from Triumph can finally rejoice as the first spy photos of the Triumph Thruxton 400 have leaked online. These test mules have been spotted abroad and Bajaj will be manufacturing them in India. Small displacement café racer style motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular. This isn’t the last as the brand will spawn more 400cc variants, including the Tiger to take on the Himalayan. A company which also has ambitious European plans like Triumph and Bajaj.

The spy photos show a stylish motorcycle that has all the elements of a neo-retro motorcycle to convince you. This cafe racer style has a bikini fairing that could be described as a headlight hood. This fairing extends to the bottom of the fuel tank giving it a powerful look. Thruxton 400 has a round headlight too. It is identical to the round LED headlight on the Speed 400. The fairing is slightly sporty with aggressive cuts and creases. There’s also a clear wind shield that should provide minimal wind protection during crouched and aggressive driving. Component-wise, the Triumph Thruxton 400 features the same USD front forks as the Speed 400 and no the Scrambler one’s. The position of the radiator, the exhaust routing and the end appear to be identical to those of the Speed 400.

However, there are some differences. Triumph offers clip-on handlebars for the Thruxton 400. This ensures a sporty seating position and requires the driver to lean quite a bit. The bar end mirrors look identical to those on the Speed 400. The seat and subframe also look identical, but the rear section is different on the Thruxton 400 test mules than what we saw on the Speed 400. Other similarities include wheels and tires as well as fuel tank and drivetrain.

A 398.15cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4V DOHC engine is capable of developing a maximum power of 39.5 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm on this bike is a possibility. Electronic throttle, slipper clutch, 6-speed gearbox and other features are also offered. This test mule appears to be nearing production and the base motorcycle has already been developed. Taking these factors into consideration, the Bajaj-Triumph duo could launch in mid-2024. A product was planned for April-May 2024, this is very likely it. If launched, there would be no real competitor to the Thruxton 400 apart from the 650cc Enfield GT which is set to get this treatment as well. These rivals match in terms of power and torque and hence the comparison.
