VinFast has emerged as a fresh contender in the Indian automotive landscape, primarily concentrating on electric vehicles. The Vietnamese brand kicked off its Indian journey by introducing the VF6 and VF7 SUVs just ahead of the festive season. By December 2025, VinFast had impressively climbed to the top five in electric vehicle sales, outpacing established rivals like Hyundai and Kia.
According to VAHAN data from December 29, Tata Motors held a strong lead in the EV sector with 5,231 registrations. MG secured the second spot with 3,054 units sold, while Mahindra followed closely in third with 2,600 electric vehicles.
In December, VinFast registered sales of 321 units. Hyundai sold 238 units, while Kia managed 272, falling short of VinFast’s sales. This performance propelled VinFast into fourth place among overall EV sales. BMW rounded out the top five with 300 electric vehicles sold in the same month.
The VF6 and VF7, VinFast’s offerings in India, are competitively priced between Rs 16.49 lakh and Rs 25.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning them well within one of the most active segments in the electric vehicle market.
Given the competitive pricing of the VF6 and VF7, there’s anticipation that VinFast will also implement an aggressive pricing strategy for the upcoming Limo Green. Should this materialize, it could help the brand capture even more popular price segments. With the launch of Limo Green in India, a noticeable surge in sales and market share is expected.
Moreover, VinFast is planning to make waves in the electric two-wheeler market with new product releases. The brand previously announced that these models are in the feasibility study phase and will be introduced in the country soon. Alongside this expansion, there are plans to develop a charging network to support its electric vehicle lineup.
