Vinfast Minio Green Incoming – MG Comet Rival

In India, the MG Comet EV currently reigns as the standout mini EV in its segment. However, a new contender is on the horizon – the Vinfast Minio Green. This compact three-door EV aims to inject some excitement into the market previously dominated by the Comet. A design patent for the Minio Green has been recently filed in India, hinting at its upcoming arrival.

Measuring 3.1 meters, the Minio Green is slightly longer than the 2.9-meter MG Comet, also boasting a longer wheelbase of 2,065 mm compared to the Comet’s 2,010 mm. Its larger 13-inch tyres outmatch the Comet’s 12-inch ones, making for a more substantial presence on the road.

However, the MG Comet stands out when it comes to performance. It is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery and a motor outputting 31 kW/110 Nm, while the Minio Green features a 14.7 kWh battery paired with a 20 kW/65 Nm motor. The Minio Green tops out at 80 km/h with a claimed range of 170 km. Vinfast takes the lead in charging capabilities, as the Minio Green supports a 12 kW AC charger, while the Comet is limited to a 7.4 kW AC wall box. Both models are designed as urban commuters and are not intended for extensive travel.

The Minio Green also comes with a range of features, including a two-speaker audio system, front disc brakes, four-way manual seat adjustments for the driver, two drive modes, all-LED lighting, and manual air conditioning controls. While there hasn’t been an official announcement from Vinfast yet, the launch of the Minio Green might open the door for more competitors to enter this growing segment.
