Volvo V90 Cross Country is priced higher than the XC90 and S90 as it offers best of both worlds and is the ideal car for our country

Swedish carmaker Volvo has come up with their all new V90 Cross Country to enter the estate segment in the country. The Volvo V90 is based on the S90 sedan and is essentially the off-road version of the V90 estate.

The Volvo V90 Cross Country is the third “Cross Country” model to be launched in India after the S60 Cross Country and the V40 Cross Country. The latest Volvo V90 Cross Country will be positioned between the S90 and the XC90.

The swanky V90 Cross Country features an increased ride height of 210mm which is 50mm more than the V90 and S90 and also comes with Volvo’s AWD (All Wheel Drive) drivetrain. The Volvo V90 CC is designed like an SUV and carries good body lines and stance all over with a good amount of ground clearance.

The luxury estate looks similar to the S90 at the front, while the rear is in proper proportion and in line with its other siblings carrying the prototypical ‘waterfall’ tail lamps. The car offers extra cladding which makes it stand out from others.

The feature list of the V90 Cross Country is very similar to that of the S90 and XC90. All the 90 series models share the same powertrain globally but with different state of tune.

The Cross Country shares its diesel engine with the XC90. In India the estate V90 CC gets a D5 diesel engine which is recently updated with Power Pulse technology. The 2.0-litre diesel motor churns out 235 bhp and 480 Nm of peak torque and transmission duties are carried out by 8-speed automatic transmission.

The all new Power Pulse technology helps in shooting air in compressed air from a tank to the turbo which will help it spin faster at low speeds or at turns reducing the turbo lag. The V90 Cross Country model also comes with different driving modes: Eco, comfort dynamic and off-road (exclusive to the Cross Country model). The car has been priced at Rs. 60 lakhs and is set to against the likes of Audi A5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
