The Hyundai Elantra facelift was launched in India in October last year, albeit with only a BS6 petrol engine. However, the company has now worked on j introducing the diesel BS6 version of the sedan, details of which have now been revealed. The new Hyundai Elantra Diesel BS6 will be the newest model to be powered by the 1.5-litre oil burner from the Hyundai-Kia stable and will join the 2.0-litre petrol version that is currently on sale. Prices for the Elantra Diesel BS6 are yet to be announced.
The Hyundai Elantra Diesel BS6 will use the 1.5-litre motor that develops about 115PS and 250Nm of peak torque on the new Creta and Kia Seltos SUVs. Identical figures on the sedan as well are seen. Meanwhile transmission options will include the 6-speed manual and automatic options. This is actually a downsized engine considering the pre-facelift version used a 1.6-litre diesel engine that churned out 128PS and 260Nm. In contrast, the 2.0-litre petrol makes 152PS and 192Nm of peak torque on the Hyundai Elantra.
