In order to meet stringent emission norms, Suzuki has equipped its Swift Sport model with mild-hybrid technology in the global market. The 2020 Suzuki Swift Sport comes powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine and with this new update, a 48V lithium-ion battery has been added in order to reduce tailpipe emissions. Along with accomplishing the primary purpose of reducing emission of harmful gases, this update will also enhance the fuel efficiency numbers of the premium hatchback.

Just so you know, along with the 2020 Suzuki Swift Sport, other models of the Japanese carmaker S-cross and Vitara SUV are also getting this mild-hybrid update in order to comply with stringent emission targets set by the European Union. It is important to know that because of non-compliance with emission norms, Suzuki has to shelve its popular Jimny in the Europe from the next year.

2020 Suzuki Swift Sport now comes with 127 bhp and 234 Nm of the max power and max torque respectively. The car is able to make a dash from 0-100 kmph in just 9.1 seconds with its top speed rated at 210 kmph. The addition of the mild-hybrid system reduced the emissions of the car to just 127g/km while helping it to register a fuel efficiency increase of 6% over the outgoing model. The car tips the scale at just 1,025 kg and comes with updated features like LED headlamps and adaptive cruise control.

It is unlikely that the new 2020 Suzuki Swift Sport may come to our shores anytime soon in the future. That said Maruti Suzuki has shown standard Swift at the 2020 Auto Expo with mild-hybrid system which could possibly make its debut in the Indian market at a later point in time. More exciting, however, will be the launch of the Jimny later this year that is being awaited by auto enthusiasts for a long time.
