Kia India has introduced the 2021 Seltos in the market. The Korean automaker has brought upgrades to its popular compact SUV, most notable of which will be the new Kia logo that debuted earlier this year internationally. Alongside this, the company is also likely to bring a number of feature upgrades as well as the Gravity Edition that was launched internationally a couple of weeks ago. Now, the big news coming in is that Kia has launched the 2021 Seltos and let’s have a look at the details.
2021 Kia Seltos will feature the segment-first iMT and will be available in the 1.5 Petrol HTK+ variant. The new-aged iMT technology is a technological breakthrough from Kia that offers fatigue-free driving thanks to the absence of a clutch pedal and still gives the same driver control as a conventional manual transmission. The iMT variant of the refreshed Seltos now comes with a Sunroof; Beige and Black interiors and Fully Automatic Air Conditioner with silver garnish add to the modernity of its interiors and give it a luxurious look.
The Intelligent Manual Transmission or IMT made its debut on the Kia Sonet last year and is paired with the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine on the latter. The 6-speed IMT unit eliminates the clutch pedal but still offers control to the driver with the standard H-pattern manual shift lever. On the Seltos, it is paired to an 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine. The 2021 Kia Seltos also continues to get the iVT (CVT gearbox). The 1.4-litre turbo petrol mill has finally received a new 6-speed manual along with the previous DCT.
2021 Kia Seltos continues to get a 6-speed torque converter and 6-speed manual in the diesel automatic. The IMT is sadly available only in one variant, which is not the top variant either that is exclusively for the iVt variant. Paddle shifters will now be available in the GTX+ 1.5D 6AT and 1.4T-GDI 7DCT variants in the refreshed Seltos
Apart from the new logo and gearbox, the 2021 Kia Seltos get the same humungous set of features like ambient lighting, updated infotainment system user interface, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof and more.
The model will continue to compete against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, but more importantly two brand new upcoming models – Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
