The Mahindra Bolero is two decades old and is the no-nonsense MUV that you simply can’t go wrong with. The Bolero, in a way, is what the modern-day vehicle started off as and continues to be the ultimate survivor car. And Mahindra has time and again made sure to keep the model just updated enough to keep it relevant to its core set of buyers. And now, reports suggest that the company is doing it again by bringing a new update to the Bolero for 2022.

The refreshed 2022 Mahindra Bolero will arrive with cosmetic updates. The model was scheduled to arrive this year itself but the COVID-19 pandemic and semiconductor shortage delayed its arrival. Moreover, Mahindra has been busy with handling the success of the XUV700, the backlog of the Thar and the launch of the Bolero Neo in 2021. There was the new brand logo and its repositioning as an SUV maker that happened this year. But the company is all set to focus again on its workhorse of a product.

Expect the upgrades to include a slightly revised front styling with a reworked grille and bumper, and a dual-tone colour scheme. The front bumper will get new fog lamp housings, while the headlamp cluster will be carried over from the current model. The MUV is also expected to get new colours and fabric upholstery options, while the cabin will carry over its existing set of features. This will include a 2-DIN head unit with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity. It will also get a semi-digital instrument console, keyless entry, and manual HVAC unit. It will also arrive with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and more as part of the standard safety kit, in compliance with government norms.

The 2022 Bolero will continue to draw power from the 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 74 bhp and 210 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The MUV will continue to be a ladder-on-frame construction with power going to the rear wheels. The heavy steel wheels and leaf springs will be carried over as well on the model. Given the rising input costs in the auto sector, don’t be surprised to see prices see an increment in 2022 for the Bolero. The Mahindra Bolero range currently starts from Rs. 8.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Having said that, the company will also introduce the Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus, formerly known as the TUV300 Plus in the market next year.
