Kia India has launched the Kia Sorento SUV in the Indian market, marking the brand’s entry into the premium three-row SUV segment. Manufactured locally at Kia’s facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, the vehicle is available in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, with nationwide deliveries starting September 4, 2026. Constructed on Kia’s global N3 platform, the Sorento measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height with roof rails, supported by a 2,815 mm wheelbase.
Buyers can select between two Smartstream powertrains: a 2.2-liter diesel engine delivering 193 PS and 442 Nm of torque via an 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission, or a 1.6-liter Turbo GDI Hybrid generating 180 PS and 265 Nm from the engine alongside a 65 PS electric motor, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. –
Both engine options offer Front-Wheel Drive or All-Wheel Drive with dedicated terrain modes for snow, sand, and mud. Pricing for the diesel variants starts at INR 27.99 lakh ex-showroom for the base 7-seater HTE trim and reaches up to INR 38.89 lakh for the top-spec 6-seater HTX(A) Black Line AWD model. Hybrid variants begin at INR 29.49 lakh for the 7-seater HTE trim, scaling up to INR 40.39 lakh for the 6-seater HTX(A) Black Line AWD trim.
The interior features a dual 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) curved display for the infotainment and instrument cluster, a windshield head-up display, digital IRVM, dual-pane panoramic sunroof, and ventilated seats in both the first and second rows. Connectivity options include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Kia Connect 2.0 with over-the-air update support, and the global debut of the generative AI-powered Kia AI Assistant. For safety, the Sorento provides standard equipment such as 7 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist, while upper-tier trims include 10 airbags and a Level 2+ ADAS package with 30 automated driver-assistance capabilities.
