During a two-day official visit to Thimphu, India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, formally handed over 54 units of the Mahindra XEV 9e electric SUV to Bhutan’s Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay. Delivered through Singye Agencies to the Department of Procurement and Properties under Bhutan’s Ministry of Finance, the vehicles are designated for the Royal Government of Bhutan’s official fleet to support the nation’s transition toward sustainable transport and e-mobility.

The vehicles provided belong to the XEV 9e Pack Two variant, built on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO electric vehicle architecture. The model is equipped with a rear-wheel-drive single permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 228 bhp and 380 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 8.3 seconds. Powered by a 59 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, it carries a MIDC-certified range of 542 km. The variant supports 140 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 20 to 80 percent charge in approximately 20 minutes, alongside AC charging options. Design and cabin specifications include an SUV-coupe silhouette, 19-inch alloy wheels, flush door handles, a triple 12.3-inch screen dashboard setup, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and a fixed panoramic glass roof. In India, the variant starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹21.90 lakh.
