2017 KTM Duke 390 Silent Recall In India Ongoing For Multiple Fixes such as LED Lights turning off and LCD cluster has bugs to be patched

KTM Europe has just recalled the Duke 125 and 390 to fix a problem with the new LED headlights. During the internal endurance testing, KTM experienced some cases of sprodiac reboots of the LED headlight.

It was reported that the headlight used to randomly restart, which may cause safety hazards while driving at night. KTM Europe has just issued a recall for customers facing this issue, the fix for this problem is quite simple and it just requires a small software update. The KTM Duke 390 and 2017 Duke 125 also has a new TFT instrumentation console. A few users have also complained about flickering issues with the screen.

This software glitch was only found in the first lot of new 390s which rolled out from Chakan and that nearly all the affected bikes in India have received the software update. KTM 390 Duke is carrying the same 373.3 cc, single cylinder engine on both the Indian as well as the European version. The powertrain churns out 43 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque.

The bike comes with loaded and high-tech features like ride by wire, LED headlight, dual channel ABS and TFT console. Suspension duties are handled by WP 43mm upside down forks at the front with 142mm travel and a monoshock setup with 150mm travel at the rear. Braking duties are carried by 320mm disc at front and 230mm disc at the rear with ABS offered as standard fitment.

KTM does not sell the 125 Duke in the Indian market so Duke 390 will be the only model to be get updated with the latest software. As of now there is no confirmation on whether KTM has issued a proper recall with the bikes here in India. We don’t expect KTM India will also soon announcing a recall as the recall is voluntary, but the fixing of the headlamp issue for the bikes sold here continues silently.
