The Tata Altroz has undergone a refreshing mid-cycle update, enhancing its design, interior quality, and even introducing a new powertrain option. This marks the hatchback’s first significant transformation since its debut in 2020. Tata Motors has taken this opportunity to revamp the Altroz’s variant names as well. Now, it comes in five trims: Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ S. Let’s dive into the features and engine choices offered across these trims.
The facelifted Altroz retains the same petrol, CNG, and diesel engines as the earlier model. This includes a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 86hp, a 1.2-litre CNG variant with 74hp, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine delivering 90hp. A notable update is the inclusion of a new 5-speed AMT gearbox for the petrol engine, in addition to the previously available 6-speed DCT. All engines come standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel and CNG options do not offer an automatic transmission. However, Tata provides an AMT option for the more budget-friendly Tiago CNG.
One key point is that the Altroz remains the sole hatchback in India to offer a diesel engine, though this option is limited to three trims. It’s worth mentioning that the previously available 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Racer variant is no longer part of the lineup—at least for the time being. Additionally, the top-tier Accomplished+ S trim is exclusively offered with the turbo-petrol DCT engine.
For those interested in a sunroof, it’s available as an optional feature on both the Pure and Creative trims. Tata Motors has also introduced five vibrant color options for the new Altroz: Dune Glow, Ember Glow, Pristine White, Pure Grey, and Royal Blue.
