Tata Motors’ new SUV, the Sierra, has achieved a prestigious five-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection in the latest Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests. The vehicle demonstrated exceptional performance across multiple categories, reinforcing Tata Motors’ focus on vehicle safety.

In terms of specific scoring, the Sierra earned 31.14 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.73 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP). The SUV’s child safety performance was particularly notable, recording a dynamic score of 23.73 out of 24. This result reflects high protection levels for both 18-month-old and 3-year-old occupants, with the vehicle also securing full marks for its child restraint system (CRS) installation.

The assessment, which involved the ACCOMP+ and ADV+ variants, showed robust structural integrity in various crash scenarios. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Sierra scored 15.14 out of 16, while it achieved a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. These high ratings apply across the model’s different variants, confirming consistent safety standards for the lineup.

To ensure these results, the Sierra comes equipped with a comprehensive list of standard safety features. These include electronic stability control (ESC), front airbags, side head curtain airbags, and side chest and pelvis airbags. Additionally, the vehicle includes seat belt reminders, pedestrian protection systems, and ISOFIX anchorages for child seats in the rear outboard positions.

Tested in February 2026, the Sierra evaluated featured a two-row configuration weighing 1,825 kg, with the ratings applying to both petrol and diesel versions. With this achievement, the Sierra joins the ranks of the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari, both of which have previously secured five-star BNCAP ratings, further solidifying the manufacturer’s standing in the safety-conscious SUV market.
