Bajaj has introduced the new Dominar 400, now featuring a refined 349cc engine that positions it in the more budget-friendly 18 percent GST bracket, a notable change from the previous 40 percent bracket. This engine update has significantly lowered the bike’s price, making the Dominar 400 more accessible for riders. Here are some key details about the revamped model. The Dominar 400 is available in two color options: green and black, the same options that were offered with the outgoing version.
The price of the Bajaj Dominar 400 stands at Rs 2.04 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is a reduction of Rs 37,000 from the prior model priced at Rs 2.40 lakh. Comparatively, it is now Rs 26,000 more than the Dominar 250. This streamlined pricing comes from the engine downsizing from 373cc to 349cc, which allows the bike to benefit from the lower GST rate.
Under the hood, the Dominar 400 is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 349cc engine that delivers 40.6hp at 9,000rpm and 33.2Nm of torque at 7,500rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. While the peak torque has decreased by 1.8Nm, peak power has seen a slight increase of 0.6hp, with both figures arriving at different points in the engine’s rev range. In comparison, the previous version was fitted with a 373cc engine that produced 40hp at 8,800rpm and 35Nm at 6,500rpm. The reduction in engine size was achieved by keeping the bore the same while shortening the stroke.
The new Dominar 400 retains the same features as its predecessor. Aside from the engine modifications, it remains unchanged and continues to provide its touring-centric accessories in the overall package. The features and hardware components have been carried over without any alterations from the last model.
Yes, the Bajaj Dominar 400 comes standard with a USD fork. The suspension setup and other hardware have been retained from the previous model, ensuring the bike retains its dependable USD fork and rear monoshock.
