Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto Limited, underscored the importance of speed, innovation and decisive execution in the electric mobility transition while addressing the fifth annual convocation of Mahindra University, highlighting how these principles have helped position Bajaj Auto as India’s largest electric vehicle company by volume.

Reflecting on the company’s evolution from a scooter-focused manufacturer to a global two and three-wheeler major, Bajaj said the company’s annual production is set to exceed three million scooters, motorcycles and three-wheelers, with exports reaching 108 countries. He noted that electric vehicles now account for 30% of Bajaj Auto’s domestic sales, meaning one in every three Bajaj vehicles sold in India is electric.

Emphasising the need for bold decision-making in a rapidly evolving industry, Bajaj said, “The cost of being late to market far exceeds the cost of being wrong,” urging future leaders to embrace calculated risks rather than wait for perfect certainty. He attributed Bajaj Auto’s growth to a relentless pursuit of excellence, saying the organisation succeeded because everyone was aligned towards the same goal.

Concluding his address, Bajaj encouraged graduates to build careers around five enduring principles: improve, excel, align, develop and adapt, describing adaptability as the defining leadership trait in an Al-driven and technology-led future.
