Hyundai has announced that its upcoming midsize SUV, designed to be positioned between the Venue and the Creta, will be named the Bayon. The name is inspired by a city located in the French Basque Country. While the Bayon nameplate is already used for an i20-based crossover in European and Central Asian markets, the version developed for India will be a distinct model. It will slot just below the Creta in Hyundai’s lineup and is expected to be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and CNG powertrain options.

Hyundai Bayon is likely not to go through the sub 4 meter engineering for India. Upcoming Volkswagen Terra SUV in a similar form is set to come and will be a four meter as well. Will it being expensive still find buyers? The Hyundai Active i20 just got bigger and has a higher purpose! What do you think?
