The next-generation 2021 Isuzu mu-X has been launched in Thailand with a comprehensive makeover – both on the outside and inside. Compared to the outgoing model, the India-bound Toyota Fortuner rival has grown in its footprints with length, width, and height now stacking at 4850mm, 1870mm, and 1875mm respectively.
In terms of the design, the SUV gets a sleeker look thanks to the new grille and LED projector headlamps at the front. The profile, on the other hand, is characterized by 20” alloys, rising shoulder line, and very practical quarter-glass that help to improve space feel for third-row occupants.
Inside the cabin, Isuzu has invested a lot of effort to improve the feel and ambience of this new-gen model. The dual-tone interiors feel quite upmarket and thanks to the long list of creature comfort, the new mu-X makes for a luxurious and comfortable experience. Some of the important features the SUV offers include a 9” touch screen infotainment system, electric tailgate, and traction control system (TCS) with two different drive modes. Isuzu has also equipped the SUV with autonomous technology of Level one which means you will get features of parallel park assist and adaptive cruise control on the new mu-X.
Powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine, the 2021 Isuzu MU-X puts out 190PS and 450Nm of max power and max torque respectively. For your reference, the outgoing model produces 177PS and 380Nm. For transferring this power to wheels, a six-speed automatic transmission has been employed and in the interest of long-range, Isuzu has increased the fuel tank capacity to 80 liters from the 60 liters of the outgoing model.
Just so you know, the previous model of mu-X hasn’t been updated to BS6 norms in India and had been discontinued since April 2020 when these new norms came into effect. It is expected that Isuzu will directly launch this new generation mu-X in India very soon in the future.
