Over the past few years, we have seen many electric motorbikes from different electric two-wheeler brands catch fire on public roads. Among these automakers, Bangalore-based automaker Ather Energy has the lowest ratio. However, the company is not immune to electrical fires and recently a video showing at least four Ather Energy scooters involved in a fire inside a transport truck was shared online. In the video, it can be seen that 4 motorbikes in the upper part of truck were on fire, while the 4 motorbikes in the lower part were all safe.

At this time, Ather Energy has not released any official statement explaining the cause of the fire inside this transport truck. However, expect a statement to come with the same concerned tone as always.

In 2022, another Ather Energy electric vehicle fire was shared on the Internet. Reportedly, this scooter caught fire at an Ather dealership in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The company released a statement explaining the entire situation. The company said a customer brought the car to the warranty center. The scooter was covered in a lot of dust and mud so a high pressure wash was performed. It is important to remove dust and mud so that maintenance of the scooter can be done easily.

Later, the service center team was in the process of removing the body panels when they discovered a crack in the upper battery box cover. The company added that the crack may have developed due to an accident involving the scooter. Then, water leaked into the battery from a crack while washing the car. Battery fires are not new in EV scooters. The lack of oversight remains a concern as always when it comes to staff dealing with units while shipping and till delivering the scooter to customers. After all, the upper management cannot be everywhere to take care of things.
