Maruti Suzuki India announced on Thursday that it experienced a 7% rise in total sales, reaching 1,79,791 units for the month of April.
To compare, the company sold 1,68,089 units during the same month last year, as stated in its official announcement.
In terms of domestic passenger vehicle sales, there was a slight increase to 1,38,704 units, up from 1,37,952 units in April of the previous year.
However, sales in the mini segment, which includes models like the Alto and S-Presso, saw a decline, dropping to 6,332 units from 11,519 units last April.
On a brighter note, compact car sales, featuring popular models such as the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, increased to 61,591 units, compared to 56,953 units last year.
Utility vehicles, including the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and XL6, reported sales of 59,022 units, up from 56,553 units in April 2022.
Sales of the van Eeco stood at 11,438 units, a slight decrease from 12,060 units last April. Conversely, light commercial vehicle Super Carry saw an increase in sales to 3,349 units, up from 2,496 units previously.
Finally, Maruti Suzuki India noted that its exports for last month totaled 27,911 units, a significant rise from 22,160 units in the same month last year.
