Honda has introduced CNG kits for its Amaze and Elevate models, addressing the ongoing demand for CNG vehicles in the market. Dealers can now retrofit these government-approved CNG kits into the vehicles, as neither model originally comes with a CNG option for their petrol engines.
At this time, the retrofittable CNG kits are not listed on Honda’s official website, making the pricing information unavailable. However, the installation of these kits will be better managed, as Honda has ensured that trained professionals will oversee the process. It’s also expected that these kits will come with a factory warranty.
One challenge could be the registration process for vehicles equipped with these kits. Initially, the dealer must register the car as a petrol Light Motor Vehicle (LMV), followed by a registration as a petrol CNG LMV. Additionally, the installation efficiency of these kits may not match that of factory-fitted CNG setups found in models like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Tata Tiago iCNG.
As for the specifications, the 3rd generation Honda Amaze features a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine that generates 88 HP and 110 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Honda Elevate is equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, delivering 119 HP and 145 Nm of torque. It’s worth noting that the power and torque figures may experience a decrease once the CNG kit is installed.
