Honda Elevate has achieved an impressive 5-star rating in the Japan NCAP, marking its debut in crash testing. This Japanese SUV, produced in India, is marketed as the Honda WR-V in Japan. The Elevate garnered a total score of 176.23 out of 193.8 points.
**Preventive Safety Performance**
In the realm of Preventive Safety Performance, where ADAS features were evaluated, it received an A rank, scoring an impressive 82.22 out of a possible 85.8 points. The vehicle showed exceptional performance with a Level 5/5 rating in damage reduction braking during the day and night, for bicycles, and at intersections.
It achieved the same top rating for lane departure prevention. Additionally, it earned a Level 4/5 for its high-performance headlights and for its acceleration suppression feature, which activates when the accelerator is inadvertently pressed.
The Collision Safety Performance results are equally commendable, with an A rank and a score of 86.01 out of 100 points. This score combines the occupant protection rating of 57.73 points, calculated by deducting the opponent vehicle’s score of 1.13 points from the Elevate’s score of 58.86 points, alongside a pedestrian protection score of 28.28 points.
The Honda Elevate (or WR-V in Japan) achieved a Level 5/5 rating for full wrap frontal collisions for both the driver and rear seat, in offset front collisions, and for side impacts on the driver’s seat. It also received the highest rating for pedestrian protection concerning the legs.
For rear impact neck protection for both driver and passenger seats, seat belt warning, and head protection for pedestrians, the Elevate scored a Level 4/5. Furthermore, it obtained an advanced rating with a score of 8 out of 8 points for its automatic emergency accident reporting device.
Tests evaluated the SUV’s performance at speeds of 10 Km/hr, 20 Km/hr, and 45 Km/hr, demonstrating consistent capabilities in collision avoidance. It also exhibited a flawless 100% success rate in lane departure prevention. Honda employs a monocular camera to support advanced systems like Forward Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning.
