Smaller, more affordable ADV bikes are gaining popularity in the global market. Honda Sahara 300 is one of the go-anywhere adventure motorcycle models recently launched in Brazil.
Successor to the Honda XRE 300, the Sahara 300 is an ‘all-new’ product with new bodywork and an updated feature list. It comes with an updated instrument cluster, USB Type-C charger, dual-channel ABS, and preload-adjustable suspension. Meanwhile, the design of the Sahara 300 is largely similar to the Honda CB500X.
Honda Sahara 300 uses a 293 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, single overhead camshaft engine, instead of the DOHC setup like the XRE 300. The engine is compatible with the E100 and makes more power when running on ethanol. . The engine produces 25.2 horsepower using ethanol and 24.8 horsepower when running gasoline, while torque is at 27 Nm.
For an Adventure bike, the Sahara 300 is relatively light at 149 kg (curb) but has a seat height of 859 mm. This is because the long-travel suspension offers 245mm of travel at the front and 225mm at the rear. The Sahara 300 rides on a 21/18-inch wheel combination.
The Honda Sahara 300 is available in Brazil in three variants: Standard, Rally and Adventure. The Standard model is priced at BRL 27,090, while the Sahara 300 Rally model is priced at BRL 27,690. The top-end Adventure variant is priced at BRL 28,650.
