Classic Legends brought back the iconic Jawa motorcycle brand to India in late 2018. Currently, the company has three models in its product portfolio: Jawa, Jawa Forty Two and Jawa Perak. Today, the company plans to enter the electric vehicle (EV) segment that is gaining momentum in the country. CLPL head, Anupam Thareja said that around Baisakhi, which will be around second week of April, a launch will happen. This launch could be Jawa Electric or something, but it is not confirmed yet again. The electric Jawa story took lime light first time in 2022.
The company has set up a small R&D center in Coventry, UK, with a team of 12-15 BSA employees. The electric technology of the Jawa motorcycles will be developed in the British center of the brand. The first Jawa electric bike is expected to hit the market around mid-2025.
Jawa And Yezdi To Expand Further – Investment Of Rs. 1,000 Crore
The model is likely to be developed with a high level of localization and a competitive price compared to the next Royal Enfield electric bike. Its design and styling will be similar to the new generation of Jawa bikes. However, it may contain futuristic design elements together with blue highlights, a round LED headlight and a charging cover.
The official details of the new Jawa electric bike have not been revealed yet. It is reported that the motorcycle will be equipped with a high-capacity battery that offers a range of about 200-250 km on a full charge. The battery will be located just below the fuel tank.
Recently, Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles have been heavily updated with a thorough mechanical update in both engines, the 300cc and 334cc. The BSA brand has come to India after much wait too!
